Volunteer shifts are in blocks with a minimum of 4 hours, and volunteers will earn an hour of meeting attendance, excluding paid events such as the tutorials, dinners or receptions, for every hour of volunteer time. Lunch or dinner will be provided for volunteers taking two shifts during a day. fusion-text-3\"><ul>\n<li>Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers are typically local to the Denver \/ Boulder area but anyone may volunteer. Meeting attendees who are interested in volunteering are welcome as well. However the Conference is unable to provided any financial support to volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers must be able to obtain appropriate transportation to and from the meeting site. The conference hotel is well served by RTD bus service. See the Venue \/ Travel page.<\/li>\n<li>Meeting attendees who are interested in volunteering are welcome as well.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers are expected to be punctual and arrive typically 30 minutes prior to the shift for coordination. Volunteers are not to partake in meals provided for meeting attendees.<\/li>\n<li>Volunteers will be provided with volunteer shirts and identification indicating they are official volunteers for this shift.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains contact with the Volunteer Coordinator during that shift.<\/li>\n<li>Supports the volunteers to resolve any issues they encounter during their shift which they need help handling.<\/li>\n<li>Is responsible for the Volunteer Binder during that shift.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-9 Desk<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-7\"><p>Volunteers are Responsible for the orderly distribution of registration materials, name badges, and any orientation information for all pre-registered attendees. Training and a walk-through of the facility will be provided once onsite. Registration serves as a backup information booth for the conference as well, so volunteers need to become familiar with the conference program logistics.<\/p>\n<p>Android tablets are kept at the registration desk and 1 \u2013 2 will be available for people to register on site.<\/p>\n<p><i>Requirements- Heavy conversational interaction with registrants is required so a good command of English will be beneficial. The ability to work extended hours and stand for long periods at a time is also required. On the day of the event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check badges when the doors open\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.27px; background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);\">Direct anyone without proper credentials the registration Desk<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A projector or TV, laser pointer, slide advancer will be available in each  room. Each presenter is responsible for bringing their own laptop. Ensure presenters are able to connect their laptop and that presentation displays correctly on the screen.<\/li>\n<li>When tablets are needed for presentation in a session, they are available at the Registration Desk and are given into the Room Monitor\u2019s custody until returned to the registration desk at the end of the session.<\/li>\n<li>You might also need to explain how to use the laser pointer and slide advancer. Spare batteries will be available.<\/li>\n<li>Ballrooms: A\/V Support staff will be available to manage the video and audio levels in these large rooms.\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that the Session Chair\u2019s lapel microphone is placed correctly on their lapel or on their tie close to their neck, NOT more than 6 inches from their mouth.<\/li>\n<li>There will be a sound mixer in these larger rooms but the mixer should not require adjustment unless the speaker\u2019s voice is very soft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Take pictures \/ videos of the session for upload to the cloud<\/li>\n<ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We will provide contact information in the event that you need help. When you arrive, please find your way to the Conference Office. You will be provided with a volunteer identification badge with your name and affiliation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dress Code:<\/strong> \u201cBusiness casual\u201d, i.e. slacks and polo shirt for men, no jeans. An IEEE R5 volunteer polo shirt will be provided.
