IEEE Region 5 Annual Business Meeting
The 2020 IEEE Region 5 Annual Business Meeting will be held 3-5 April 2020 at the Downtown Sheraton Oklahoma City Hotel. Each year, IEEE Region 5 holds an annual meeting to approve the IEEE Region 5 Executive Committee members, goals and annual budget for Programs and Services. Each of the 26 Regions 5 sections are expected to send a minimum of one voting representative to participate in information and training activities so Region 5 pays all reasonable expenses for one voting delegates to attend the IEEE Region 5 Meeting based on the Region 5 Travel Policies.
These Region 5 members assemble as a Committee to serve and support activities for more than 23,000 IEEE Members, and over 3,600 IEEE Student Members located within our geographic boundaries. The IEEE Region 5 Committee is comprised of the Region 5 Officers, Executive Committee Program Chairs, and the 26 IEEE Section Chairs. The IEEE Region 5 Committee also supports student activities and services to more than 90 Student Branches which now includes Eta Kappa Nu Chapters.
This Committee meets once a year to conduct the business of the region, those attending will receive presentations and updates on IEEE Region 5 Member programs, services, and identify resources beyond basic section funding. These sessions will be led by the program chair members.
General information about IEEE Region 5 can be found on the region website http://ieeeR5.org and detailed information can be found at the IEEE Region 5’s new Online Communities called Collabratec at https://ieee-collabratec.ieee.org/app/workspaces/5985/ IEEE-Region-5/activities . Participation in the Collabratec Community requires your IEEE login and registration in the IEEE Region 5 Collabratec Group.
Our goal for the Region 5 Annual meeting is 100% participation by the sections with the expectation that each section representative will take away at least 2 new ideas to implement back home, each R5 Executive Committee member will identify at least 3 new section contacts to work with, and each section will encourage at least one new volunteer be active in the region activities by supporting one or more programs and then plan to attend a future annual meeting as a delegate..
We look forward to visiting with you in Oklahoma City and revisiting with many IEEE friends!
